![]() It found virus that the latest Symantec Endpoint Protection hadn't. It has proved to be relatively fast and light install even on the oldest PCs It was never approved yet there were some rogue installations that caused big security leaks. When MS bought Groove and started to integrate that into their suite a huge security risk opened up now that any workstation could peer out it's data to anyone. Yes it may seem stupid, but let's put it in another context. Even things like IE would take months or literally years to get approved, and it does not matter that the vendor itself it's on the approved list, it's a certification of each piece of software. Sounds like you've uncovered some government corruption.Īs a former worker of the State Dept, USAID, DoJ, and FBI I can clearly say that the approval list of a piece of software (say MS Endpoint) would not be on the approved list because it hasn't been tested by that particular agency. Sounds like they are violating their own rules ) Likely someone is being paid off. We have been through this with them all computer failed to be granted access with mse or forefront on so we switched to one of their approved, eset av (interestingly enough endpoint with av is not allowed either) and we gained access Only if they were explicitly denied would it be an issue. So by nature of WIndows being listed, they are listed. Sure they are, how can someone list Windows as being approved but not the AV? The AV is part of the OS. Windows is but the av or forefront isn't and there fore access is denied to the portals as machines are scanned for compliance each time access is requested we are forced into using i.e. ![]() You wouldn't need notepad or the kernel on a separate list, would you? ![]() Windows isn't on the list? It's a component of Windows. ![]() Our two prime providers have regulations that the government contracts they subcontract to us only use software/hardware on the government approved list Why did it need to be on the Government Approved List for you? You in Local Gov.? Wasn't on the government approved list so we couldn't use it ![]()
